It is a transition land between Ebro valley and the Pyrenees which offers a good climate for vineyards, so grapes growing arrives earlier than in the rest of vineyard areas in Aragón. Most produced varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo and Chardonnay.

Somontano’s Wine Route has been set up to promote this territory, implementing a wide range of proposals and activities (Wine Bus, visits to cellars, tastings, etc) invite you to discover this passionate world.
In addition, Somontano’s Wine Festival has become one of the most important wine-tourism celebrations in Spain. IT is held in august and live music, Gastro Shows wine tastings, visits to cellars, among other activities, are offered to and enjoyed by visitors.
Somontano’s Wine Area is located in the historic building ‘San Julián y Santa Lucía’ in Barbastro, which holds every facilities related to this Designation of Origin. On a spectacular seven metres round screen, a video is cast reporting about cellars, accommodation, restaurants and sceneries that make Somontano a first class touristic destination. A second area hosts a state-of-the-art conference and tastings hall.
Las Rutas del Vino de Somontano, Campo de Cariñena, Calatayud y la Garnacha (Campo de Borja), se han unido para formar la marca Enoturismo Aragón, con el fin de promocionarse conjuntamente e intensificar así su presencia en el mercado.
