Escuaín gorges
Add to my travelIt is one of the most unknown valleys in Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, but not less beautiful though. It can be reached from the charming Pyrenean villages of Tella, Escuaín and Revilla.
Like Añisclo, it is a river gorge crossed by an impressive defile. It is located on a lime ground sponge-like holed, full of abysses and sumps where water leaks and forms spectacular natural shapes.
This valley hosts an outstanding wild richness, particularly bearded vultures. Escuaín is really delightful for ornithology enthusiasts as it certainly is one of the best places for bird watching in the Pyrenees.
Wild nature in Escuaín gorge hides multiple surprises. One of the routes that will allow you to know better this nice area in the National Park is the Balconies path in Revilla, an easy itinerary, recommended for families and which makes you enjoy extraordinary views along with your family: gorges, Angonés ravine, and evoking landscapes in Yaga river. Another option from Revilla is walking the path leading to Forratarruego mountain shelter.
From Escuaín Hamlet you can do a short walk trip to ‘Puente de los Mallos’, an easy route among woods, old harvest fields and ancient shepherd shelters.
At the Visitors Centre in Tella and at the Information Point in Escuaín you can get more info about these and many other trekking routes in this area of the National Park.
